Number 23 FINALLY

I must say that I was skeptical about the "playing" aspect, but I did begin to play and enjoyed many of the sites. Its so nice to finally understand what my grandchildren talk about while using a whole new vocabulary. I feel that I accomplished what I wanted to do, familiarizing myself with the new technology. I definitely will go back and use different parts of the 23 things. My grandchildren will enjoy looking at my blog, helping me to mainstream it and more. Thanks for the opportunity! HOORAY! I AM DONE!

Number 22

Well, I am almost finished 23 things, and I know that I would not use NetLibrary. There are too many manual steps to remove items and I perfer to read my books. Also, my dial up would be forever. Sorry.

Number 21

Podcast, just as I was beginning to understanding this technology, Yahoo is going to close their podcast site at the end of October. Oh well.

Number 19

Zoho is really useful. This is so user friendly and fun to use in many different applications and I love the spreadsheets. Yes, I am truly playing! Grocery spreadsheets could be an advantage.

Number 18

This is Number 18.kiss

I like the fact that I can use a word document without having to buy Microsoft office, that could be a big benefit for a lot of users. This is a great tool with many applications.

Sandbox Wiki

This was really confusing for me, I had to call upon poor Kevin again! But, I finally got a statement and a bouncing dog posted. Thanks Kevin!

Library 2.0

I really think that the library is in the future and that we need a collection. I, for one, do not like to read a book on line.

Technorati

My husband would love this for the sports! Not for me.

LibraryThing

What a great way to find great books! Thanks!

My Catalog

Merlin

I subscribed to Merlin, but not sure how I will use it.

RSS Feeds

If I logged into my blog everyday, and wanted to receive all the news information, yes it would be helpful. But I really wouldn't use it.

Rollyo

Rollyo could be very useful for hobbyist, but first you must locate all the sites. I prefer Google, its just so much quicker and much less work.

YouTube

I really laughed at the dog videos. They were cute, but I don't think I would spend much time on YouTube. People must spend a tremendous amount of time just playing on computers. I would get tired of sitting.

Wikipedia

Today I explored and played with Wikipedia. I am sure there are lots of better websites for information, but it is user friendly.

Tagging and del.icio.us just seems so time consuming. I am sure they would be good for people who use a different computer all the time, and maybe hobbyist. I would not have the time or desire to develop this bookmarking tool.

I used flickr to post beach pictures from DE beaches to my account. There are so many choices, SURPRISE - it was really easy. I don't thing I would use mashup or the colorwheel. The colorwheel is good if you need a specific thing in a specific color, otherwise I would just use google images.

On the 71/2 Habits, I would say I have always been a lifelong learner. I think anyone who raises a family, works in or out of the home, uses a computer...we must all learn something on the journey.

I like viewing problems as challenges. The word challenge instead of problem gives a new meaning to something that one may not want to do or face. It offers the opportunity to get creative and spurs you on to achievement. To me it is a positive action.

Teaching someone else a skill is always so rewarding. We have many opportunities in life if we keep our eyes open to the possibilities. It certainly reinforces our own learning.

Finally, I finished my avatar. That was fun, but oh to get it on my blog was a challenge. I still cannot get the waves to roll in. But the beach ball is cute.

This is one of my favorite beaches. It is a packin/packout area, which means there are no trash cans available. You carry out everything that you carry in. They do provide plastic bags. Hope you get to put your feet in the sand this summer.

Tiny Crab

Tiny Crab

An interesting and sad thing happened while we were at the ocean, a dolphin beached itself, rescue workers tried valiantly to save her, but attempts failed after 12 hrs. It appears she had a broken tooth, an ovarian cyst, and a bladder infection. Our illnesses affect ocean mammals as well, and drove her to beach herself. I never considered this before, that they could get female problems the same as us. I was always aware of the dangers of plastic waste in the ocean, teaching my grandchildren to respect the environment. Health is such a vital issue------to everything, plant, animal, or human.

Rhonda's Rambling

I am a beachlover at heart. I enjoy the whole experience-the smell of the ocean, the sand between the toes (sometimes the teeth as well), the sound of the surf hitting the beach, and oh yes -the people. People watching is at its best or at least interesting. I try to get to the ocean as often as possible. I find it interesting that it is called the beach if you go to a Delaware beach and a shore if you visit NJ. My grandchildren and I love to play in the surf, dig for sandcrabs, collect shells, and swim.
